Kevin Gates – Luca Brasi Story

Gates’ Luca Brasi Story is the most compelling to me of all my choices because Kevin is 100% honest with his feelings and situations, while still being a man’s man. I mean – he raps “I’d go to war with God for you baby,” on “Twilight”. Everyone loves singing “Satellites” too, but if you’re not in the mood for melodies and romance, there’s plenty of bangers on there like “Papers Chasers” and “IDGAF”.

Migos – YRN 2

Some might say that the Migos being slept on makes no sense, since they got plenty of attention in 2013, but this isn’t about that. Yes, “Bando” and “Hanna Montana” got plenty of ear play, but have you heard “Chinatown” “RIP” and “Finesser?” Turn up.

My boy Punch put me on to this band, and all I can say is – put this on for a chick who isn’t up on it and she’ll think you are cool. Really cool. This project can creates a really “vibe-y” environment, and you can just leave it on, because there’s not.one.bad.song. Start with the “Say That” video, and you’ll be hooked from there.

If you just heard “Paranoid,” you have a lot of songs left to love. I think of Ty as 2013 T-Pain/R Kelly mash-up. Sippin, Drinking, Polygamy, Partying, and taking “yo b*tch,” all covered to the most detailed degree on BH2.

Meek’s young protege dropped a great piece of work before his tragic death this year. From opening with Meek on the introspective “Nobody” to the sour love story “X B*tch” and beyond, we get a glimpse into the Louisiana native’s song-making ability. Want to feel triumphant? Throw on “Melo”. There’s even a smoker track “Tonight” with Curren$y on there. RIP Snupe and long live the music!
